Finger Sprayers: Neck Sizes, Output & Options

A finger sprayer is a hand-operated pump that meters a fine mist per stroke — typically 0.12–0.2 ml. The two numbers in its neck finish (for example 24-415) tell you which bottle it fits, and almost everything else follows from that match.

What the neck finish numbers mean

A finish like 24-415 has two parts. The first number is the neck outer diameter in millimetres (24 mm). The second is a finish series code: 400-series finishes are shallow and screw on, while 415-series finishes are taller and deeper. Bottle and sprayer must share the same finish — a 24-415 sprayer will not seal reliably on a 24-410 bottle.

Output and spray quality

Output per stroke is set by the pump chamber, not by how hard you press. Typical finger sprayers deliver 0.12–0.2 ml per stroke. Spray pattern depends on the actuator orifice and the product viscosity — alcohol-based and water-thin products mist finely; oils and glycerin-rich products need a larger orifice or a stream setting.

Dip tube options

The dip tube must reach near the bottle bottom without touching it. Tube length is cut to your bottle's height, and tube diameter is matched to product viscosity. For viscous products a wider bore prevents starvation at high stroke rates.

When requesting a quote, give the bottle's neck finish, inner height and product viscosity — those three values let the sprayer be specified correctly the first time.

Frequently asked questions

What does 24-415 mean on a finger sprayer?

24 is the neck outer diameter in millimetres and 415 is the finish series code (a taller, deeper skirt than 410). The bottle must use exactly the same finish for the sprayer to seal and function.

How much liquid does one stroke deliver?

Typically 0.12–0.2 ml, set by the pump chamber size. Output is consistent regardless of how hard the actuator is pressed.

Can the dip tube be made to my bottle height?

Yes. Dip tubes are cut to the bottle's inner height and the bore is matched to product viscosity — wider bores for viscous products so the pump does not starve.

Which finish should I choose for a new product?

Choose by dose and shelf presence: 18-415 for travel sizes, 20-410/20-415 for cosmetics, 24-410/24-415 for larger personal care and household products. The bottle and pump must share the same finish.
